SIGHT DAY Celebrations with IEEE VJCET

The IEEE VJCET (Viswajyothi College of Engineering and Technology) SIGHT group in Kerala, India  conducted various events as part of Inaugural SIGHT Day celebration. These programs are designed to maintain a connection with the sustainable world during the lockdown period in India. The virtual events included:

Innovation Hack- Project idea presentation conducted on a virtual platform along with the IEEE
VJCET Computer Society and Power and Energy Society (PES) Chapters. The challenge was to present
sustainable solutions to ease the problems faced after this battle with the coronavirus.

Webinar – “Enhancing Women in Power Engagement in Humanitarian Technology Projects” was conducted by VJCET SIGHT along with IEEE VJCET Women in Engineering (WIE) group and the PES Chapter. Dr. Celia Shahnaz (IEEE PES Women in Power, IEEE Region 10
Regional representative from 2017-20, Member of the IEEE WIE WePower Subcommittee from
2019-20, SIGHT Communications Chair in 2017 & 2019, and Chair of Women in IEEE SIGHT Working Group) enlightened us during the session.

Start the Chain for Sustainable World – IEEE VJCET SIGHT and PES Chapter organized a campaign to engage their volunteers to understand and implement Sustainable Development Goals in
their daily life. It was conducted as a challenge to be part of the campaign from their own home
and is hoped to bring about positive changes in not only the lives of the participants but also the
individuals around them.

Webinar on SIGHT Day – Organized by IEEE Kerala Section SIGHT, in association with IEEE Young Professionals Kerala Section, LINK IEEE Kerala Section, and the IEEE VJCET Student Branch, this webinar was presented by our great mentor, Mr. Amarnath Raja, former IEEE Kerala Section Chair and former IEEE Humanitarian Ad-hoc Committee Chair.

IEEE VJCET SIGHT also conducted a volunteer training course on “Sustainable Operating Models for SIGHT Projects” and “Quar’n Joy,” a campaign to enhance the creativity of the students during lockdown and provide an online platform to express their skills as motivation for other students to use this time effectively. Participants shared their experiences about the lessons they’ve learned, making the program a success and inspiring optimism for all.
