Overview
The SIGHT Committee operates as a subcommittee of the IEEE Humanitarian Technologies Board (HTB) Programs Committee to manage and coordinate aspects of the program above the local community level. The committee’s charge includes approving new SIGHT Groups, overseeing the use of the SIGHT brand by Groups, ongoing training for Groups and members to strengthen volunteers’ skills and prepare them to facilitate sustainable development initiatives at a grassroots level, and organizing community engagement activities.
The committee also supports the activities of existing Groups, oversees the SIGHT Awards, and provides strategic direction for the future of the program.

Mohamed Essaadi
Mohamed Essaaidi is an IEEE Senior Member, Chief of Party of Interactive Digital Center Morocco and a Professor and past Dean of the ENSIAS College, IT Engineering of Mohammed V University, Rabat, Morocco. Past Director of the International Cooperation at the Ministry of General Affairs & Governance, Morocco (2019).
He was the IEEE Global Cities Alliance, MEA Chairman (2021–2022), IEEE Humanitarian Activities Committee (HAC) Assessment Committee Member during (2021-2022), IEEE EAB Teaching Excellence Editorial Hub, Member (2021-2022) and a member of the Committee of Global Accreditation activities (2017-2018). He is the founder and past Chairman of the IEEE Morocco Section (2005-2014). Moreover, in the framework of his position as the director of International Cooperation in the Ministry of General Affairs and Governance, he was extensively involved in the coordination of the World Bank Morocco Country Partnership Framework (2019-2024) and OECD Morocco Country Program during (2019–2021).

Ronny Cabrera
Ronny Cabrera has a Masters in Business Administration, a Masters in Project Management (2018) and is an Expert in Lean Management (2020) and Electronics and Telecommunications Engineer (2014). He has participated and directed 12 technological projects with social impact in the last 8 years, achieving the award for the Best IEEE Latin America and the Caribbean activity for the IEEE Ecuador Summer Camps Project.

Mohamed Saeed Darweesh
Mohamed Saeed Darweesh (M’17, SM’20) is currently an Associate Professor in the Electronics and Computer Engineering (ECE) Program at the School of Engineering and Applied Science, Nile University. He is currently serving as the Chair of the IEEE Region 8 Young Professionals Committee 2025-26, and as a member of the IEEE MGA YP Committee 2025-2026. Mohamed is also a member of the IEEE SIGHT Committee and the IEEE HTB Tech4Good Committee for 2025. He will also fulfill the roles of Treasurer for the IEEE PowerAfrica Conference in 2025 and the IEEE MELECON Conference in 2026, and will serve as the IEEE Egypt Section Secretary for 2024-25. Since becoming a Senior Member of IEEE in 2020, Mohamed has contributed to the technical program committees of several major IEEE conferences. His research spans projects in artificial intelligence, machine learning, healthcare, and Industry 4.0, and he has authored or co-authored over 90 papers in international journals and conferences.

Sunitha Beevi K
Sunitha Beevi. K is a retired professor from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at TKM College of Engineering, Kollam, under Kerala Technological University, India. She holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and a postgraduate degree in Computer & Information Technology. With 25 years of teaching experience, she is also an Acupuncture Practitioner and an enthusiastic IEEE volunteer, boasting 18 years of continuous IEEE membership. A life member of the Institute of Engineers India, Sunitha has held various IEEE volunteer positions both locally and globally. Currently, she chairs IEEE SIGHT Kerala Section and serves as the Regional Coordinator for Asia-Pacific (R10) Women in Power (WiP). She has led initiatives in sustainable electricity, clean water solutions, and empowerment workshops. Sunitha has received numerous awards, including the Outstanding Volunteer Award of Kerala Section 2023 and the IEEE WiE Inspiring Member of the Year Award 2021.
Hebah Sofan Qadoomi

Hebah Sofan Qadoomi
Hebah Sofan Qadoomi is a Telecommunications and Electronics Engineer from Jordan, recognized for her leadership and contributions to IEEE. An active IEEE member since 2018, she currently serves as the IEEE SIGHT JS Chair, previously holding roles such as IEEE MESYP 2024 Chair, IEEE YP JS Vice Chair, and IEEE SIGHT BAU Chair.
Passionate about technology and social impact, Hebah has led high-profile initiatives like IEEE Spectrum Lab3, and she played a key role in organizing one of the largest IEEE MESYP conferences. Under her leadership, her IEEE SIGHT group won the IEEE Region 8 SIGHT Group Award twice, and she secured the IEEE Project Fund for the Zaatari humanitarian project.
With expertise in wireless networks, cybersecurity, and AI-driven engineering solutions, Hebah continues to drive innovation, mentor students, and contribute to global IEEE initiatives that empower engineers and positively impact society.

Nicole Parra Valverde
Nicole Tatiana Parra Valverde is an undergraduate student at the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, where she joined IEEE in her first week of university.She began her leadership journey within the IEEE Computer Society Chapter, initially serving as Vocal and later as Vice Chair, supporting numerous initiatives to enhance technical competencies and professional growth. Concurrently, she holds the Vice Chair position in her university’s IEEE Student Branch, fostering peer collaboration. Recently appointed Chair of the SIGHT group at the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, Ms. Parra Valverde is driven by a deep commitment to applying engineering solutions for community benefit. Through her SIGHT leadership, she aspires to inspire others to engage in humanitarian projects and leverage technology for the greater good. She firmly believes in the power of collaboration to create meaningful, lasting impact in Costa Rica and beyond.

Jawad Y Siddiqui is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta. He is currently working as a Visiting Researcher at Queen’s University, Canada and at the Royal Military College of Canada. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE. He is the Chair, IEEE AP-S SIGHT Committee,R10 Coordinator of AP-S CAC, Member AP-S COPE, Member, IEEE MTT-S M&S Committee, Member IEEE HAC Committee Member, IEEE TAB (CPC, MTT-S).
Luciano Tarricone

Luciano Tarricone
Luciano Tarricone is a Professor of Electromagnetic Fields– Department of Innovation Engineering, University of Salento in Lecce, Italy. He received a Master Degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Rome La Sapienza, Italy (1989) and his PhD from the same university in 1994. He was a research fellow at the National Institute of Health in Rome (1990), and with IBM Research (1990-94). He was a researcher of EM Fields at the University of Perugia, and a Professor of EM Compatibility at the same university (1994-2001). In 2001 he moved to the University of Salento in Lecce, where he now coordinates the EM research group and laboratory.
He has authored 5 books, 160 papers in international journals, and 350 papers in international conferences. Luciano was elevated to IEEE Fellow in 2021.

Kayna Mendoza Trujillo
Kayna Mendoza, Materials Engineer and PhD Candidate, Northwestern University. Kayna has an academic and professional background in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering alongside 3 years of industry experience in the aerospace sector, and has since transitioned to research in nanomagnetism for energy efficient computing. Kayna is a member of the IEEE Young Professionals Community and active volunteer in the Climate and Sustainability Task Force (CSTF) as well as the Humanitarian Technologies Board (HTB) and is focused on contributing to spaces that bridge technology and policy.
Alysson Virgulino da Silva

Alysson Virgulino da Silva
Alysson, an electrical engineering student has extensive experience with IEEE, participating in volunteerism, leadership, and project development. Currently, he is the Section Volunteer Development Track Coordinator for the IEEE SAC Northeast Section, a member of the SAC Enlaces Magazine Committee – Evaluation and Continuous Improvement at IEEE SAC R9, and a member of the IEEE SIGHT Committee.
He has held strategic positions, such as Chair of the IEEE UFS Student Branch (2023-2024), where he led award-winning initiatives, including the Darrel Chong Student Activity Award and the Student Branch Revelation of the IEEE Council SAC Awards 2024 – Brazil Council. Additionally, he created and coordinated the Mangaba Educational Project (IEEE IRMÃO), an initiative focused on electrical engineering education.
As an IEEE Ambassador for IEEE Day 2023 and 2024, and Ambassador for IEEEXtreme 18.0 in 2024, Alysson contributed to the growing IEEE presence in Sergipe, mainly at the Federal University of Sergipe.

Julianna Pichardo
Julianna joined the IEEE Humanitarian Technologies team at IEEE in 2018 after returning to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic. While in the DR, she worked with Esperanza International, a microfinance nonprofit dedicated to poverty alleviation. A fluent Spanish speaker, she has studied in Valparaiso, Chile, and volunteers as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher through a local library program. As the Humanitarian Technology & Sustainable Development Program Manager, Julianna supports the work of all the committees of the Humanitarian Technologies Board to ensure smooth and consistent processes that lead to meaningful impact. She especially enjoys meeting the IEEE volunteers from around the world that conduct projects that use technology to address a local sustainable development challenge for their community.

Before joining the IEEE Humanitarian Technologies team in February 2024, Brittany devoted over 9 years to The Salvation Army New Jersey Division. Her expertise spans Community Engagement, Business Administration, and Finance establishing a solid foundation for her current role. As the Humanitarian Technologies Project Specialist, she supports the work of the Humanitarian Technologies Board and its committees, IEEE SIGHT and the IEEE Tech4Good program. Brittany draws inspiration and enjoys collaborating with IEEE volunteers worldwide who are dedicated to implementing meaningful humanitarian technology initiatives within their own communities.
