We’re thrilled that you are interested in starting a new IEEE SIGHT group! If your petition is accepted, you will join the many SIGHT Groups around the globe that are partnering with underserved communities and local organizations to leverage technology for sustainable development.

Since SIGHT was established in 2011, there are hundreds of local Groups that have been formed to partner with their local communities to apply the technological skills of their members to promote sustainable development.

Every year, SIGHT Groups around the world organize hundreds of local events for thousands of attendees to learn more about technology for social impact, participate in IEEE humanitarian opportunities.

SIGHT members and volunteers should be knowledgeable about 1) The theory behind sustainable development, 2) Engineering principles as they relate to sustainable development, 3) The principles of human-centered design and working with community members, and 4) How to approach quantifying the impact of your work.
