The 2016 IEEE International Women in Engineering (WIE) Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (WIECON-ECE 2016) was jointly organized by IEEE Bangladesh section and IEEE Pune section along with their respective WIE Affinity groups during Dec 19-21, 2016 at AISSMSIOIT, Pune, India. During IEEE WIECON-ECE 2016, Special Humanitarian Technology Activity (HTA) Track and Humanitarian Project Competition was arranged and sponsored by IEEE Humanitarian Activity Committee (HAC).

HTA Special track
Under HTA Special track, four technical papers were accepted and these three papers were presented:

HTA Project Competition
HTA track received 29 projects. Each project was evaluated and comments were provided to the students. Some project descriptions were excellent and some projects were at very early stage. Finally 16 projects were presented in IEEE WIECON-ECE HTA Project Competition. Several awards and travel grants were given. Award categories were Best Technical, Best Innovation, Best Humanitarian, Honorable Mentions.
At the end of the track, publicity posters of IEEE Region 10 HTC 2017 to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh were displayed by the organizers, delegates and speakers.
