About Visita de Maio 2024 in Action

The Federal University of Ceara Student Branch SIGHT Group conducted a visit to a community location in Ipiranga, in the municipality of São Luiz do Curu, where we promoted activities for children, youth, and adults. We left the Federal University of Ceará around 6 AM and arrived at the community at 8:30 AM.

The day began with a lecture on government benefits aimed at the adults in the community, delivered by SIGHT members. Approximately five adults attended this session. Following this, we conducted another lecture, also led by SIGHT members, focused on encouraging school attendance. In this presentation, we highlighted the importance of basic and higher education, as well as the benefits and support available in higher education.

For the children, we offered a mini-course on units of measurement, which had about five participants. This mini-course included interactive activities that helped clarify the topic. The morning activities concluded at 12:30 PM, when we took a break for lunch.

In the afternoon, we organized an interactive science fair with various experiments designed by SIGHT members and performed by the children, with their assistance. Simultaneously, a group of SIGHT members went to the well site to work on two projects: water pumping using solar panels and large-scale water treatment. During this activity, water samples were collected, and specific measurements were taken to advance the projects.

The visit ended around 4 PM when we returned to UFC. Twelve SIGHT members and approximately ten community residents (five children and five adults) participated in this visit. The visit was extremely productive, allowing for the dissemination of knowledge to the community and the collection of important information and materials for the advancement of the group’s ongoing projects.
