About Enhancing Healthcare Access through a Renewable Energy Solution for Primary Health Center Ogboji in Action

In Ogboji, Nigeria, the Primary Health Center received a 5kVA solar power system and energy-efficient appliances, which were installed by Nnamdi Azikiwe University’s Student Branch SIGHT Group (SBA61881S) after successfully applying for and securing funding through the IEEE Tech4Good program.This initiative benefitted 212,800 residents, trained 20 young individuals and improved healthcare by ensuring consistent electricity for treatments and vaccine storage. It has notably enhanced timely vaccination and treatment for malaria and respiratory infections, thereby improving overall health outcomes for the community.

  • 70% of the total population (148,960 people) now patronize the hospital compared to 30% before project implementation.
  • 30% increase in delivery of vaccine supplies now that the center has a proper refrigerator for storage
  • 1 resident doctor to be deployed to the center as indicated by the local council given the facility improvements.
