IEEE SIGHT leadership at 2019 MTT-S International Microwave Symposium

On June 4, SIGHT Steering Committee Chair Sampathkumar Veeraraghavan presented a keynote talk on “IEEE SIGHT – Global Partnership Strategy to Drive Sustainable Development Projects” at the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) chapter chair meeting held during the International Microwave Symposium (IMS) in Boston. His talk covered key topics such as: the role of engineers in the Sustainable Development space, SIGHT’s 2019 global strategy in delivering impactful sustainable development projects, SIGHT funding opportunities, and partnership avenues between MTT-S and SIGHT. The session was informative and well-attended by about 100 global delegates including Chapter Chairs, industry leaders, MTT-S executive leaders, and conference participants.

Dr. Ajay Poddar, the Chair of the SIGHT Strategic Partnership Subcommittee and Veeraraghavan led a productive discussion on “Strengthening Partnership in 2019 and Beyond” between executive officers of the IEEE MTT-S and SIGHT leadership team. They also promoted the 2019 HAC and SIGHT vision among leadership teams from key programs such as (a) the National Association for Amateur Radio (NAAR) (b) IEEE Antenna and Propagation Society (c) IEEE MOVE Community Outreach program and (d) IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Society (EMC).

Several international SIGHT leaders/volunteers from Germany, India, and Mexico had an opportunity to interact with the SIGHT leadership team and discussed their strategies to strengthen their regional SIGHT activities.

The International Microwave Symposium (IMS) held in Boston, Massachusetts is the centerpiece of the Microwave Week technical program, which includes the Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits Symposium (RFIC) and the Automatic Radio-Frequency Techniques Group Conference (ARFTG). With over 10,000 participants and 1,000 industrial exhibits of state-of-the-art microwave products, IMS Microwave Week is the world’s largest gathering of radio frequency and microwave professionals and the most important forum for the latest research advances and practices in the field. The IMS 2019 Exhibition consisted of over 600 exhibiting companies that represent the state-of-the-art when it comes to materials, devices, components, and subsystems, as well as design and simulation software and test/measurement equipment.
