HAC Education Workshop at IEEE SPAC 2019

North South University IEEE Student Branch in collaboration with IEEE Bangladesh Section organized a HAC Education Workshop on Socio-technical Impact Analysis of Humanitarian Technology Projects at the IEEE Student Professional Awareness Conference (SPAC). The interactive workshop was held on 2 August, 2019 and conducted by Prof. Dr. Shaikh Fattah, Education Chair, IEEE Humanitarian Activity Committee (HAC). More than 100 students from 16 different universities actively participated the workshop.

 

The participants sitting in each round table were asked to select local community problems and then find possible solutions using humanitarian technology. Each group was encouraged to work on a different area, such as agriculture, health, women safety, sanitation, education, food, clean water etc. Dr. Fattah interacted with the participants to share the best practices during handling problems in local community. He explained the socio-technical impacts of humanitarian technology projects on local community. Using the Social Return on Investment (SROI) impact assessment methodology was presented with an example.
