The Basic Computer Assembly and Maintenance Workshop is an educational and practical initiative organized by IEEE SIGHT – Universidad de Chile, in collaboration with the University Sustainability Office.
This workshop aims to teach participants the fundamentals of computer hardware, including identifying key components, understanding their functions, and performing a guided disassembly and reassembly of a computer. Participants will also learn about best practices in maintenance, safe handling of components, and basic troubleshooting techniques.
The activity is part of a broader project focused on technological reuse and social impact education, developed in the context of the University E-Waste Recycling Campaign (Reciclatón). Through this collaboration, the project seeks to promote circular economy principles, reduce electronic waste, and strengthen the link between technology, education, and sustainability within the university community.
