The speaker will walk through (high-level) what factors engineers must consider when building and shipping software at scale – beyond just writing code. This includes how teams think about gradual rollouts, testing and preparing for future regressions, and defining quality gates. She will cover how external factors, such as platform updates, add complexity, and why maintainability and long‑term ownership matter just as much as the initial launch. When in college, one doesn’t thinking about questions like: Will someone be able to read and understand my code two years from now? What happens if an API I rely on changes five years down the line? What if something breaks in a way I didn’t anticipate? She will address these topics and give us an insight into what goes on behind the scene for a successful rollout.
