Humanovators 1.0 : Empowering Youth to Innovate for Water Sustainability
On April 5, 2025, ENSIT opened its doors to a new kind of innovation movement: Humanovators 1.0. Organized by IEEE SIGHT Group ENSIT and the IEEE ENSIT Student Branch, the event set out to explore how technology and humanitarian purpose can come together to solve one of Tunisia’s most urgent issues: water sustainability.
The journey began with a four‑day online bootcamp, where participants learned how to turn ideas into real ventures. From humanitarian entrepreneurship to AI‑powered water technologies and underwater robotics, the sessions equipped teams with the tools they needed to innovate with purpose.
The main event brought this learning to life. Through panels, workshops, round tables, and an ideathon, participants explored how technology can reshape the future of water management. They heard from experts, engaged with local startups, and ultimately pitched solutions aimed at improving access to clean water in underserved communities.
Humanovators 1.0 welcomed over 100 attendees—more than half of them women—creating a space where creativity, teamwork, and systems thinking thrived. The initiative reached far beyond the event hall, gaining traction through social media, radio features, and an Ambassador Program spanning 19 regions.
With a $1000 prize pool, startup‑focused training from APII, and Coursera courses, winners left with both recognition and resources to continue building their ideas. The event’s success was made possible thanks to a wide network of collaborators, including IEEE Humanitarian Technologies, the Tunisian Red Crescent, Injaz Tunisia, Rybsen, and Orange Digital Centre.
Humanovators 1.0 proved that when young innovators come together with a shared mission, meaningful change becomes possible. It laid the foundation for a platform that will continue empowering future generations to tackle humanitarian challenges with creativity, compassion, and technology.
