2025 SIGHT Awards Nominations- NOW OPEN!
The 2026 SIGHT Committee is thrilled to announce the call for nominations for the 2025 IEEE SIGHT Volunteer of the Year Award and the IEEE SIGHT Group of the Year Award!
Established in 2019, these awards recognize individuals and Groups that have significantly contributed to the SIGHT program by strengthening the SIGHT network, finding sustainable (economic, environmental, social) solutions, completing all reporting requirements and making a significant impact on their local communities.
Volunteer of the Year Award
This award recognizes a dedicated IEEE SIGHT member who has shown outstanding commitment and leadership within their SIGHT Group. As well as someone who has actively contributed to the SIGHT mission by:
- Strengthening the SIGHT network through building relationships with local community entities;
- Acting as a leader within their SIGHT Group;
- Participating in sustainable (economic, environmental, social) activities in close partnership and coordination with a local community;
- Recruiting new SIGHT individual members or SIGHT Group members;
- Contributing to the overall SIGHT program through active participation on the IEEE SIGHT Committee.
Group of the Year Award
This award honors IEEE SIGHT Groups that have made outstanding contributions toward their local communities through the development and deployment of technology, consistently advancing the IEEE SIGHT mission.
Criteria Includes:
- Submitting officer and event reporting via IEEE vTools for 2025
- Implementing a humanitarian technology and sustainable development project or a SIGHT Group activity initiative in 2025
- Completing all reporting requirements for any Tech4Good funded project the Group conducted
- Having a group of at least 6 active IEEE members
- Having a SIGHT Group Chair that is an active IEEE member
- Conducting at least four Group meetings over the course of the year
- All Groups must be established for at least one year
- Has not previously received the IEEE SIGHT Group of the Year Award for at least five years
All recipients will receive a certificate of appreciation and spotlight across all IEEE Humanitarian Technology outreach channels.
Nomination Process
- For the Volunteer of the Year Award, please submit two letters of endorsement.
- Self-nominations are welcome for the Volunteer of the Year Award.
- For the Group of the Year Award, please submit at least one letter of endorsement.
